19th Biennial Conference on Communication and Environment (COCE)
Environmental communication takes many forms. COCE 2027 is looking for proposals that reflect that range.
Alongside research papers and panels, the conference welcomes practice reflections, workshops, artworks, performances, storytelling circles, and participant-designed formats. Works in progress are also encouraged, particularly from graduate students and early-career scholars.
Proposals may engage with the conference theme—“Seeking Refuge: Communicating Care in an Age of Adaptation, Migration, and Changing Ecologies”—or explore other questions that contribute to environmental communication research, practice, teaching, art, or advocacy.
COCE brings together people working across disciplines and sectors, creating opportunities not only to present completed work but also to test ideas, share methods, develop collaborations, and learn from different forms of knowledge and practice.
COCE 2027 will take place June 21–25, 2027, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and online.
Membership in the International Environmental Communication Association is not required to submit a proposal. Accepted presenters will need to become members before participating.
Submission deadline: September 30, 2026
Review the submission options and submit: Event Website – Fourwaves
Please share this opportunity with colleagues, students, practitioners, artists, and others whose work could contribute to the conference.
