Lansdown Hall and Gallery is owned by Stroud Town Council and run by an entirely separate charity CIO for the benefit of the community. We currently have 2 part time staff members and 4 Trustees.
Many of the people working at the hall and gallery are volunteers, and the venue operates on a not for profit basis. Money that comes in from hiring the hall or gallery is used to pay for the running of these spaces, for the provision of skilled technical staff at events, and the ongoing maintenance of the venue. Every effort is made to keep the building as affordable for hirers as possible.
The aim of the charity is the provision of hall and gallery space for community use for exhibitions, performances, workshops, film screenings and private functions. Many of Stroud’s festivals use the hall and gallery during the year. The gallery hosts exhibitions from local artists, and there are regular classes as well.
